Frequently Asked Questions

What is the warranty on the battery that came with my vehicle? It says that it has a six-year warranty.

The battery that comes with a GM vehicle or is replaced under warranty is covered by the limited warranty of three years or 36,000 miles (48 months/4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, for Cadillac, Buick and HUMMER) and should be taken back to the GM dealership. The six-year warranty is for the consumer who purchased the battery; the battery should be returned to the place of purchase or any ACDelco battery retailer with the receipt.

Where can I find a warranty-covered replacement battery?

You can find a local ACDelco battery retailer through the ACDelco Parts Retailer or Service Center online, or call 1-800-ACDelco and one of our friendly representatives will help you locate a warranty center in your area.

How do I read the warranty date code on my battery?

The warranty date code is located on the top label of the battery. The first character is either a P or S. The next two digits determine the month, the third digit is year and the fourth digit indicates the manufacturing plant. For example, P 098N means the battery was made in September 2008.

ACDelco POWERSPORT Battery Limited Warranty

ACDelco, General Motors, warrants to the original retail purchaser a new replacement Powersport battery for 6 months from date of purchase (3 months free replacement) when used in a personal Powersport application. Original sales receipt is required for warranty of Powersports batteries.

ACDelco DEEP CYCLE Battery Limited Warranty

The ACDelco Deep Cycle battery is warranted by ACDelco, General Motors, to the original purchaser for (36) thirty-six months from the date of purchase when used in recreational and RV applications. If the battery fails to hold a charge due to a defect in materials or workmanship in the first (3) three months, it will be replaced with a new ACDelco Deep Cycle battery of comparable performance. Beginning with the 4th month and continuing through the 36th month, a pro rata exchange based on total months of use will be made. The cost per months of use will be based on the suggested List price at the time of adjustment divided by 36 months.

This warranty statement is attached to the label of the ACDelco DC24, DC27, DC27F and DC74 Deep Cycle Series batteries.

Warranty and Core Claim Forms (All Batteries)

Should this battery fail to hold a charge due to a defect in material or workmanship, it will be replaced with a new ACDelco battery of comparable performance upon payment of a pro rata adjustment based on the total months of use. The cost per month of use is based on the suggested list price at the time of the adjustment divided by the total months of warranted service. The adjusted pro rata period will be based on months of use as indicated in the table shown.

In the event you wish to make a claim under this warranty, you must return your dated bill of sale and your battery, with its warranty insert intact, to your ACDelco retailer. If your dated bill of sale is not available, the beginning date for this warranty will be based on the date code as it appears on the battery label.

This Warranty Does Not Cover (All Batteries):

• Discharged batteries that can be recharged and returned to service.
• Cost for recharging or use of rental batteries or vehicles.
• Labor costs for battery removal and installation.
• Damage due to charging system failure, negligence, abuse, accident, improper installation or freezing.
• Loss of time, inconvenience, loss of vehicle use or other incidental or consequential damages.
• Failures which occur outside the United States or Canada.

Other Terms (All Batteries):

ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE APPLICABLE TO THIS BATTERY IS LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE DURATION OF THIS WRITTEN WARRANTY. THE REMEDY PROVIDED ABOVE IS THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY UNDER THIS WRITTEN WARRANTY OR ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty will last or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may or may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you have other rights which vary from state to state (province to province in Canada).
